
Elotes Top Aviadores On Friday Night
Lafayette, Ind- The Clinton Elotes started a five-game road trip off strong on a rainy Friday night. Defeating the Lafayette Aviadores 5-3 at Loeb Stadium on Hispanic Heritage Night in Lafayette.
Lafayette got off to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Tre Hondras (John A. Logan College) led of the bottom of the first with a long home run to left field.
After a short rain delay Clinton battled back in the fourth inning. Luke Ira (South Dakota St) drove in a run with a single tying the game up, the start to a big two inning span for Clinton.
In the fifth Clinton scored four more. Adam Weed (University of Illinois Chicago) singled in a run, Matt Scherrman (UW-Oshkosh) drove in a pair with a single, and later Luke Ira gained another RBI with a sacrifice fly scoring Cade Moss (Iowa).
Lafayette tallied two more throughout, but it wasn't enough, falling 5-3 to Clinton.
The win went to starter Jackson Kent (Arizona). Dealing with rain, the lefty went six innings, allowed one run and struck out six batters. The loss went to Lafayette's starter Tyler Yotkewich (Indiana University Southeast). Rayth Petersen (University of Illinois Chicago) collected his second save of the season.
Clinton will take on the Aviadores one more time tomorrow night at Loeb Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m CT.
