LumberKings Drop Game Two Against Aviators

Lafayette, Ind- On Saturday night the Clinton LumberKings lost 5-3 on the road to the Lafayette Aviators.

 

The Aviators got all they would need in the second inning. Mike Snyder (Indiana Tech) opened the scoring with an RBI single. Later, Tre Hondras (John A. Logan College) drove in a run on a fielder's choice. Still in the second Brandon Daniels (Lee University) delivered 2 RBIs on a double giving the Aviators a 4-0 lead.

 

Clinton entered the run column in the third inning. Taeg Gollert (Missouri St) collected an RBI with a single scoring Luke Ira (South Dakota St) bringing Clinton to within three. Gollert finished with three hits on the night.

 

After Lafayette added one more in the fifth, Trevor Burkhart (LSU-Shreveport) drove in a run on a fielder's choice to bring the LumberKings back to within three.

 

In the eighth Clinton tallied one more on an RBI walk from Matt Scherrman (UW-Oshosh). The run was not enough as the LumberKings lost the game 5-3, splitting the series with Lafayette.

 

In relief Cole Conner (Oakton CC) was outstanding for Clinton. The righty pitched 4.2 innings, allowed just one run and struck out four.

 

The loss went to Brock Reade (Southeastern CC), in his Clinton debut. The win went to Tyler Norris (McPherson College) and Ian Craigie (Sul Ross State University) picked up his first save.

 

The LumberKings now head to Springfield, Ill to take on the Lucky Horseshoes tomorrow afternoon at 2:17 p.m.
